The Appalachian Trail,
also known as the AT, is the oldest long distance footpath
trail in the United States. It is 2,175.6 miles long and goes
from Springer Mountain, Georgia (elevation 3,728 feet) to
Mount Katahdin, Maine (5,267 feet).

The Bartram
Trail is named for William Bartram (1739-1823),
an American naturalist and explorer. The almost 100-mile yellow
blazed Bartram Trail is almost the exact route Bartram himself
traveled.

Standing Indian Recreation Area is one of 9
recreational areas within the Wayah Ranger District of Franklin,
NC, in the Nantahala National Forest.

Kimsey Creek Trail, located
in the Standing Indian Campground area of Franklin, NC, is
a popular and easy hike.

Timber Ridge Trail ascends
steeply on switchbacks through rhododendron, birch, ferns
and cohosh.
 
John Wasilik Memorial Poplar
Trail takes you to the second-largest poplar
tree in the United States, named for an early ranger of the
Forest Service.

Big Laurel Falls Trail
is an easy 0.6 mile (one way) beautiful trail to a gorgeous
waterfall.
  
Mooney Falls trail
is 0.1 mile one way and is a steep downhill.

Albert Mountain Fire Tower
elevation is 5,280 feet and the panoramic views are
spectacular.

Pickens Nose has an
elevation of 5,000 feet and its views of the Chattahoochee
National Forest and the Betty Creek basin below (2,000) are
spectacular.
